Just as my friend asked me the other day why I was so interested in the importance of domains with pagerank, you might be wondering why this is relevant at all. I can completely understand if you don’t think it is relevant for you if you are just surfing the internet and not having any issues finding what you are looking for. However, for companies selling products online this traffic might generate revenue and for companies not selling anything online, it still helps create awareness for their brand and even helps them sell advertising space on their webpage. The more traffic a website generates the more it becomes an attractive advertising space. That’s why it is essential for companies to be on the top of the search results and why I also find the technology behind this so fascinating.
I hate those damned phone surveys. Devilishly annoying things, those are. A real nuisance! I generally don’t mind taking part in surveys or filling out questionnaires. But if I help out a company with that I want do it in my own time when I feel like it. They should make effort to only make use of the least annoying survey tools they can find. Phone harassment in the lines of “what kind of wax do you use for your car?” clearly does not fall into that category. But they keep on calling. And it’s always around eight o’clock too. Generally I don’t want to spend those precious hours between dinner and bed on the phone with a salesperson who wants me to buy something useless or take part in survey on the fascinating subject of canned sausage.
